Popchock’s Player of the Night for Week 4 of the Ice Castle 3-vs.-3 Elite Hockey League, presented by Solyco Advisors, is Team Saloon of Mt. Lebanon forward Brendan Walkom!
Walkom’s return to the Team Saloon lineup provided a crucial spark to the eventual Week 4 champs. In Game 2, against Team Title Wave Sports, he snapped a breakaway shot past new netminder Gino Texter to tie it up at 1-1 with 4:42 left in the first period. Approaching the final minute of regulation, he assisted on Tanner Palocsik’s game-winning goal in a narrow 3-2 victory.
The Saloon squad then carved up Team Raising Cane’s Chicken Fingers for an unusually easy 9-3 win, with Walkom setting the tone early. He set up Shawn O’Donnell for the first of five unanswered goals by Team Saloon before collecting two of his own, including the game-winner, and feeding O’Donnell again for a successful one-timer.
A 190-foot empty netter before the final buzzer gave Walkom a team-high 10 goals for the competition, and it also completed his second hat trick.
